Unfinished Business
Last week, Republican Leaders in the House decided to take an early vacation rather than work with Democrats to tackle the most pressing issues facing our nation and the American people. Democrats asked our colleagues to keep working, but they refused.
We do not have any time to waste, and the American people are tired of the Republican-led Congress kicking the can down the road. We must address the looming fiscal cliff, the extension of Bush Tax Cuts and the Payroll Tax Holiday, the reauthorization of the Farm Bill, and long-delayed reforms of the U.S. Postal Service. And after twenty months of obstructionism, Speaker Boehner and Republican Leadership need to bring a bipartisan, comprehensive jobs bill to the floor of the House.
Rest assured, I'm not walking away from the table. I remain committed to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to pass common-sense solutions that grow our economy and assist working and middle-class families.

Helping Small Businesses Grow
This week, I was proud to host the second installment of the Carson Small Business Development Series. Officials from the Small Business Administration, members of my Congressional Latino Advisory Council, local business owners and a number of other business leaders from our community joined me at George Washington Community High School to discuss what can be done to help our local small businesses grow and thrive. Stay tuned for video clips from this week's event.
