Growing Small Business to Create Jobs
Over the last 15 years, two-thirds of new jobs have been created by small businesses. But since the financial crisis, small businesses have struggled to access much-needed credit. In order to continue our country's economic momentum, small businesses must be successful and that is why I supported the Small Business Lending Fund Act. The bill included language I authored that requires banks who participate in the loan program to include women- and minority-owned businesses in their outreach and advertising. This will increase the opportunities for minority- and women-owned businesses in Indianapolis and across the country. Bringing more businesses to the table to actively participate in this recovery as well providing necessary access to funds, means a stronger and quicker economic comeback for America.

Benefits of Health Care Reform Continue
A poll released this week by the Associated Press shows that as more Americans learn about the benefits of the new health care law, the more they like it. I am confident that public approval will continue to increase as the benefits of the Health Care Reform law continues to roll out in the coming days, months and years.

The latest example of how the law continues to work is an announcement by the Department of Health and Human Services that it will spend $250 million to strengthen and expand the primary health care workforce. Over the next five years, this investment will support the training and development of 16,000 new primary care providers over the next five years. This new investment will also strengthen the health care profession and give middle class families and seniors greater access to affordable, high-quality treatment and care.
