“In May of this year, I formally requested confirmation of reports that Camp Atterbury in my home state would be used for ICE detainment. Earlier this week, I finally received confirmation of the plan. Unfortunately, the Department of Homeland Security’s response did not include answers to my detailed questions about the impact on our nation’s military readiness and national security.

WASHINGTON, DC—Today, Congressman André Carson (IN-07), Congresswoman Robin Kelly (IL-02), and Congresswoman Lucy McBath (GA-06) introduced the Gun Safety Incentive Act. The bill promotes safe gun storage practices by providing a federal tax credit for individuals who purchase certified firearm safes and secure storage devices.
 
This incentive supports gun owners who take steps to store their firearms safely – an action proven to reduce the risk of accidents, suicides, and theft.

WASHINGTON, DC— Today, Congressman André Carson (IN-07) offered an amendment to protect Amtrak funding during today’s Transportation and Infrastructure Committee reconciliation bill markup.

The Carson amendment would have protected funding for the Amtrak National Network by prohibiting the Secretary of Transportation from rescinding its grant funding or from adding any new terms or conditions beyond what Congress has already directed. The amendment did not pass.
