Washington, DC - "For the White House and the leaders of the Republican-controlled Congress to shut down the government three days before Christmas is a new low.
"This may only be a partial government shutdown, but starting today 420,000 federal employees will be working without pay and another 400,000 will be furloughed. This will be felt immediately by these workers and the millions of Americans they serve every day. On top of this, a shutdown will cost our economy an estimated $1.5 billion per day.

WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman André Carson introduced a vessel safety bill in response to the loss of 17 people, including nine Hoosiers, who drowned in Table Rock Lake near Branson, Missouri, when their duck boat sank in July. Congressman Carson's legislation implements safety regulations for amphibious passenger vessels, including duck boats.
