Congressman Carson Votes to Protect Indianapolis Job Seekers and Seniors

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman André Carson today voted against H.R. 3630, a measure that drastically cuts unemployment insurance benefits from 99 weeks down to 59 weeks and adds unnecessary obstacles to benefit eligibility. The bill also raises the cost of healthcare for millions of seniors and risks valuable tax cuts for 160 million Americans.

CARSON STATEMENT ON LOWE'S ADVERTISING WITHDRAW

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman André Carson issued today the following statement in response to Lowe's decision to withdraw its advertising support for the TLC reality show "All-American Muslim":


"Lowe's decision is regrettable. It runs contrary to our American ideal of combating expressions of hate and division while defending those oppressed by intolerance," Carson said.

Carson to meet with seniors to discuss medicare


INDIANAPOLIS – Congressman André Carson on Tuesday will host his third panel discussion on Medicare and the impact recent proposals in Congress may have on the program.

The panel will consist of experts in the area of senior healthcare who will help attendees answer questions about Medicare.

CONGRESSMAN TO MEET WITH JOBSEEKERS FRIDAY

INDIANAPOLIS – More than 70 employers—representing over 1,200 available jobs—will be in attendance at Congressman André Carson's Central Indiana Job Fair on Friday. The job fair, hosted by Carson in cooperation with Ivy Tech Community College and IUPUI, will be held on August 12 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the IUPUI Campus Center in downtown Indianapolis.

Congressman Carson will be available to speak with the media throughout the morning beginning at 11 a.m. on the 4th floor of IUPUI's Campus Center.
