WASHINGTON, D.C. – Last night, Rep. André Carson voted to pass H.R. 3401, a $4.5 billion emergency border supplemental appropriations bill to address the urgent humanitarian situation at the U.S. southern border. The bill provides significant funding for priorities to meet the needs of vulnerable children, including food, water, medical services, legal assistance, support services for unaccompanied children, alternatives to detention, and refugee services.

The move comes several days after the President abruptly halted planned air strikes against the nation after it shot down a U.S. drone over the Strait of Hormuz.

WASHINGTON, DC – Last night the House of Representatives passed an amendment introduced by Rep. André Carson that will increase funding to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) from the Department of Defense (DoD) by four million dollars above current levels.

This boost in funding will help strengthen DoD's investments in the physical sciences, mathematics, and engineering programs at HBCUs, which will help to advance cutting-edge defense and national security research conducted at these institutions.

Lugar.

WASHINGTON, DC-- Congressman André Carson (IN-07) has reintroduced legislation to improve duck boat safety. The Duck Boat Safety Act (H.R. 2799) directs the U.S Coast Guard to implement long-overdue recommendations from the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) to help make these vessels safer, more buoyant, and better equipped to withstand flooding or sinking. Congressman Carson first introduced this legislation in the last Congress (H.R. 7256).

This legislation extends anti-discrimination protections to LGBTQ Americans with regard to employment, education, access to credit, jury service, federal funding, housing and public accommodations.
