The event will feature community organizations offering assistance in a variety of areas to qualified federal employees who are impacted by the shutdown.

Washington, DC – Today marks the 21st day of the government shutdown, matching the longest in our country's history. This week, Congressman André Carson voted on several bills to re-open the federal government. This includes today's vote in favor of the Interior appropriations bill so Americans can get back to enjoying their national parks, EPA workers can continue monitoring air and water pollution, and hazardous waste sites can be maintained.
Washington, DC - "For the White House and the leaders of the Republican-controlled Congress to shut down the government three days before Christmas is a new low.
"This may only be a partial government shutdown, but starting today 420,000 federal employees will be working without pay and another 400,000 will be furloughed. This will be felt immediately by these workers and the millions of Americans they serve every day. On top of this, a shutdown will cost our economy an estimated $1.5 billion per day.

WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman André Carson introduced a vessel safety bill in response to the loss of 17 people, including nine Hoosiers, who drowned in Table Rock Lake near Branson, Missouri, when their duck boat sank in July. Congressman Carson's legislation implements safety regulations for amphibious passenger vessels, including duck boats.
