Washington, DC – "I am deeply concerned by President Trump's decision to overturn longstanding U.S. policy by recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and relocating our embassy. This decision is likely to drive serious unrest across the region, unacceptably putting countless innocent people at risk. It makes lasting peace much more difficult to achieve, makes Israel less secure, and ignores competing Palestinian claims for parts of Jerusalem, which should be resolved through peace negotiations and not unilateral U.S. action.

Included in the bill was an amendment offered by Congressman Carson to restore funding to afterschool programs, which President Trump proposed eliminating.
