Included in the bill was an amendment offered by Congressman Carson to restore funding to afterschool programs, which President Trump proposed eliminating.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the House of Representatives passed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), annual federal legislation that authorizes spending and sets policy for the United States military and Department of Defense. Included in the bill was a provision authored by Congressman Carson which makes permanent the requirement for the DOD to provide mental health assessments to deployed service members.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman André Carson issued the following statement on proposed changes to the state's Healthy Indiana Plan (HIP 2.0). Recently, Congressman Carson sent a letter to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) urging it to reject a new state proposal which would create unnecessary barriers for Hoosiers relying on HIP 2.0 for healthcare coverage.
