Speeches
Madam Chair and Ranking Member, thank you for providing me time to testify this morning. I have 4 amendments to this Reconciliation bill.
My amendments protect Medicaid, passenger rail, our environment, and would help protect the middle class.
Mr. Speaker, today I rise to speak about Arica, from Indianapolis’ eastside. Arica is a single mother of 5, including one child with special needs. She says if Medicaid is cut, she and her 5 kids will not be able to survive.
There’s Carol Ann, whose Meals on Wheels have already been reduced. She told me, quite simply, “We need food to live.”
Bethany, from the Southside of Indianapolis. She says, “Without Medicaid I would be dead. If Trump cuts Medicaid, I will probably die. I am not alone in this.”
I rise to speak against the censure of Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib.
Since October 7th, we’ve mourned the deaths of precious Jewish families. We’ve condemned Hamas’ terrorist attacks. We’ve condemned the rise in antisemitic violence here at home and across the globe.
Mr. Speaker, I rise today in strong opposition to this outrageous and hyper-partisan stunt.
This misguided majority is wasting more precious floor time with an insulting and unprecedented resolution to censure a Member of Congress for doing their job, for honoring their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution.
