INDIANAPOLIS—Today, Congressman André Carson (IN-07) made the following statement in reaction to Martin University’s announcement it will pause operations:
“Earlier this year, Indiana officials cut funding for Martin University, Indiana's only predominately Black institution of higher education. Now Martin is set to close its doors.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Rudy Yakym (R-IN-02) and Congressman André Carson (D-IN-07) introduced the “Safeguarding Americans from Fraudulent and Experimental (SAFE) Drugs Act of 2025” (H.R. 6509) to protect patients from untested, unapproved, and potentially dangerous mass compounded drugs.
