Washington, D.C. – "With the ongoing engagement of American forces in Iraq and Afghanistan, thousands of troops are returning home each month to enter an already overburdened Veterans Affairs medical system. Following the 2007 exposure of neglectful conditions at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and other VA health facilities, it is clear that now more than ever the Department of Veterans Affairs is in desperate need of a new and more attentive leadership structure.

Washington, D.C. – "In the early morning hours of December 7, 1941, our nation experienced one of our darkest days in American history as the Imperial Japanese navy launched a surprise attack against the United States' naval base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. This unwarranted and calamitous attack led to the deaths of over 2,400 Americans.

Washington, D.C. – "With the U.S. economy shedding over half a million jobs in November and in light of the fact that a total of 1.9 million jobs have been lost this year, the immediate passage of a comprehensive stimulus package is no longer just an option but is instead a vitally needed necessity. In order to provided displaced workers with the assistance they need, Congress must pass a targeted and fiscally responsible package that spurs job growth, extends unemployment benefits, grants tax relief to working Americans and invests in our nation's aging infrastructure.

That's why it is critically important that Congress pass a timely and targeted economic stimulus package that will help working families victimized by job losses, chronic unemployment, foreclosures and the rising costs of living.
