INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Today, Congressman André Carson (D-IN), released the following statement regarding the Indianapolis Civilian Police Merit Board's decision to not fire the officers involved in the killing of Aaron Bailey:

"I am very disappointed in the judgement handed down by the Indianapolis Civilian Police Merit Board that leaves Aaron Bailey's family searching for justice. No unarmed citizen should die at the hands of the police.

Senators Joe Donnelly (D-IN) and Todd Young (R-IN) introduced a companion bill in the Senate. This legislation officially recognizes MLK Park in Indianapolis where Senator Robert F. Kennedy delivered a timeless speech on the day Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated, and establishes the site as a part of the newly created U.S.

Washington, DC - Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed Congressman André Carson's Kennedy-King Establishment Act (H.R. 4851). This bill designates Martin Luther King Park in Indianapolis as a National Commemorative Site, and adds it to the new National Civil Rights Network, preserving it for generations to come. The bill passed the House by a vote of 391 to 0 and now moves to the Senate for consideration.
