WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman André Carson, a member of the Congressional LGBT Equality Caucus, is working to inform his colleagues about the problems with Indiana's SB101 and the need for nondiscrimination protections at the federal level. Today, Congressman Carson and the Caucus sent an email to nearly 200 congressional offices providing sample tweets, Facebook posts and news articles to help Members of Congress who support repealing SB101 and a federal comprehensive nondiscrimination bill.

Last weekend, I joined a bipartisan group of lawmakers for a trip to Alabama to commemorate the 50th anniversary of some of the most critical moments in the Civil Rights movement.

WASHINGTON, DC – This Friday, Congressman André Carson (IN- 07) will join a bipartisan Congressional delegation on a visit to Selma, Alabama to mark the 50th anniversary of the historic civil rights march that ultimately led to the Voting Rights Act. The pilgrimage will be led by Congressman John Lewis of Georgia, a leader in the Civil Rights Movement.

The Congressional Civil Rights Pilgrimage to Alabama first started in 1998 and this year's trip will include nearly 100 participants, the largest group of lawmakers ever to participate.

WASHINGTON, DC – With less than 48 hours left until a partial government shutdown, today, Congressman André Carson (IN-07) is continuing to urge Congressional Leaders to fund the Department of Homeland Security before tomorrow night's deadline. A shutdown would furlough or deny pay to 1,005 law enforcement officials, disaster response officials, and many other DHS personnel in Indiana alone.

With appropriations for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) set to expire at the end of this month, we write to strongly urge you to bring a clean bill to the House floor that fully funds DHS for the remainder of the current fiscal year, like H.R. 861 introduced by Congresswoman Roybal-Allard and Congresswoman Lowey.
