Today we recognized what we already know, all American families are equal in every way. Today's ruling is a critical step in ensuring that no one in this country suffers discrimination because of their race, ethnicity, religion, age, sex, sexual orientation, or gender identity. WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman André Carson, (IN-07) issued the following statement in response to the Supreme Court's ruling in King v. Burwell:

"Today, the Supreme Court of the United States reaffirmed that the American people still have the right to access quality, affordable health insurance. Since its implementation, our nation's health law has expanded health coverage to 16.4 million Americans who were previously uninsured, regardless of where in the country they live or the size of their paycheck.

"Today, the following statement was placed in the Permanent Record of the House of Representatives:

'Personal Explanation for Roll Call Vote 384 on June 24, 2015

Mr. Speaker, on June 24, 2015 I mistakenly voted "yes" on rollcall 384, the Ratepayer Protection Act of 2015. I strongly oppose the bill and intended to vote "no". '


June 5, 2015

This week, by a unanimous voice vote, Congressman André Carson along with the rest of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence reported the Intelligence Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2016 (H.R. 2596) to the full House of Representatives.

This legislation provides the Intelligence Community authorization needed to protect and defend the United States. It supports critical national security programs such as those protecting Americans against terrorism and cyber-attacks.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congressman André Carson spoke on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives urging his colleagues to support the ‘Equality for All' resolution, a resolution introduced by Carson calling on Congress to protect lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people from discrimination under the law.

The Resolution will officially be introduced in Congress on Thursday. Currently 44 Members have expressed their support for the measure.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman André Carson, a member of the Congressional LGBT Equality Caucus, is working to inform his colleagues about the problems with Indiana's SB101 and the need for nondiscrimination protections at the federal level. Today, Congressman Carson and the Caucus sent an email to nearly 200 congressional offices providing sample tweets, Facebook posts and news articles to help Members of Congress who support repealing SB101 and a federal comprehensive nondiscrimination bill.
