WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Rep. André Carson voted with many of his colleagues in the U.S House of Representatives to adopt, by a vote of 316 to 113, the FY 2016 Omnibus Appropriations bill. This measure funds the government for the remainder of FY 2016.

"Today I voted to avert a disastrous government shutdown and to make vital investments in the future of America's working families," Carson said. "While the bill is not perfect, it is a bipartisan compromise that moves our country towards a more prosperous future."

Washington, DC – Today, Rep. André Carson (D-IN), the first Muslim Member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, issued the following statement:

"I am deeply troubled by the anti-Muslim rhetoric used by Donald Trump in his campaign for President. It is disturbing that a man seeking the highest office in the land, would exploit recent terrorist attacks to advance his own political agenda. At a time when incidents of hate and violence against American Muslims are on the rise, these provocative statements are highly irresponsible.

Washington, DC – Today, Rep. André Carson (IN-07), Member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, released the following statement:

"Like all Americans, I was outraged to learn of the despicable terrorist attacks carried out in Paris yesterday. This horrific violence against innocent people is clearly an attempt to intimidate and instill fear, not only in the people of France, but in everyone who values freedom and equality. As we struggle to come to terms with this tragedy, we know one thing for certain, these terrorists will not prevail.

"Today I voted on a short-term continuing resolution to keep our government open. While this avoids the immediate crisis, I am disappointed to see Congress once again kicking the can down the road. Today's continuing resolution is a quick fix that leaves our country in the same uncertain position 10 weeks from now. The American people deserve better from their leaders than what they are getting today in Congress."

Washington, DC – Today, ahead of the 14th anniversary of 9/11, Congressman André Carson joined with his colleagues to introduce a resolution honoring the victims of post-9/11 hate crimes.

In the aftermath of 9/11, the United States saw a sharp increase of violence misdirected at individuals within the Arab, South Asian, Sikh, and Muslim communities. In the first nine weeks following 9/11, there were over 700 documented cases of violent incidents targeting Arab-Americans.

WASHINGTON, DC — U.S. Congressman André Carson (IN-07) will hold a Twitter Town Hall meeting tomorrow, September 10, 2015 to discuss his ongoing work in Washington and Indianapolis. This 30 minute town hall comes at a time when Congress is set to vote on a number of big ticket items, including the Iran Deal and government funding.

INDIANAPOLIS - This Tuesday, September 1, Congressman André Carson in cooperation with Purdue Extension Marion County, will hold a Financial Literacy workshop to highlight the importance of money management.

The event will feature a financial literacy coach who will focus on credit building, smart spending habits and fraud protection.
