WASHINGTON, D.C. - Aiming to strengthen the transparency and disclosure in federal campaigns, Congressman André Carson today voted to approve the DISCLOSE Act.

The DISCLOSE Act requires corporations, organizations and special interest groups to stand by their political advertising just like a candidate for office does. CEOs will need to identify themselves in their advertisements, and corporations and organizations will be required to disclose their political expenditures.

Seniors to Receive $250 Medicare Checks This Week

WASHINGTON, D.C. - As part of the effort to close the gap in Medicare's prescription drug coverage, $250 checks will begin hitting the mailboxes of tens of thousands of seniors this week, Congressman André Carson said today.

Under the recently enacted health reform law, seniors whose drug costs exceed the threshold under Medicare Part D, known as the "donut hole," will receive this one-time, tax-free $250 rebate check in 2010. These checks will continue to be mailed monthly over the next several months as seniors reach the coverage gap.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman André Carson today voted to approve legislation to help the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) continue its work to insure mortgage loans and expand homeownership opportunities.

The FHA Reform Act of 2010 allows FHA to adjust its premium structure for new borrowers while still providing affordable mortgage insurance to individuals, including low-income and minority borrowers in traditionally underserved areas.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman André Carson today joined General Services Agency (GSA) Administrator Martha Johnson at the Major General Emmett J. Bean Federal Center to highlight a nearly $37 million investment that will create new jobs and generate savings through clean energy technology.
